Evinrude 70hp Outboard Model 70973R

Evinrude 70hp Outboard Motor – last run summer of 2022. Will likely need carb cleaning.  As is.  Made in Peterborough!!

Currently mounted on boat.  We’ll try to remove the bolts and disconnect what we can.  Will need to lift from transom and load into your vehicle.  Delivery possible.

Comes with the ~550pg “Evinrude/Johnson Outboard Shop Manual” in paper binder and in .PDF file (if desired) and the “Evindrude 1979 Owners Manual” in .PDF file.  And maybe on paper.

Comes with the tilt/trim mount; worked last time we used boat.  BUT SEE THE NOTE BELOW!!

On compression: I tested compression at the start of last season we used it; was good on both cylinders. Could test again if I can find the tester I bought just for this job.

On trim: short answer: yes. works last time we used. Could test.

Long answer: boat came without trim mount; we bought one on Kijiji, replaced the non-trim mount; works, BUT: the trim motor is directly wired to a simple DPDT switch at the driver’s seat, and therefore bypasses the motor’s RPM-limiting function (if trim is up enough, RPM is limited to prevent out-of-water overspeed) and there are no end-of-travel limit switches wired in.

Summary of long answer: it works. But it was a hack job. As is.
